Lead Abatement, Certification, Inspections & Testing

Lead Inspection
According to the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act implemented in the year 1992, which is commonly known as the Title X, it is indicated that there are serious health risks to children under the age of 6 residing in homes containing lead-based paint. The Federal Government banned the consumer use of lead-based paint in 1978.

The Aeris team can educate individuals and businesses about the possible exposure of lead-based products within one’s environment.

We are fully equipped and trained with EPA licensed individuals to perform lead-based paint testing in residential homes and commercial structures.  Sampling is performed by either paint chip samples which is a destructive type of testing or we can also offer a non-destructive testing which includes a state of the art XRF analyzer.

Our risk assessors and inspectors perform lead-based paint (LBP) inspections and assessments according to the federal regulations. These inspections are performed for the interior and the exterior of a structure through the process of bulk paint sampling of painted surfaces along with the use of a third-party laboratory for analysis or by the use of an x-ray fluorescence analyzer (XRF) onsite for instant results.

The XRF technology used is a non-invasive, a non-destructive technique which is used to determine the presence of lead on multiple surfaces such as painted, glazed, and stained.

Aeris can offer other types of testing as well. We can offer lead testing for water quality purposes, surrounding soil and dust.

Lead Testing

When to Test

Testing should always be performed on homes built prior to 1978 due to the legal consumer use at the time. Real estate transactions are perfect windows of opportunities to assess the home properly by testing the paint, water, and soil associated with the property. If renovations have occurred then soil sampling and dust sampling may be another opportunity to further investigate the possible exposure of lead.
